Julie O’Malley became a part of Shorkey in November 2024. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders from The University of Massachusetts, followed by a Master’s Degree in Special Education and an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Marshall University. In 2022, she relocated to Texas after dedicating over twenty years to the West Virginia Autism Training Center (WVATC), where she served as the Community Education and Training Coordinator. Most recently, she held the position of Executive Director at Mental Health America of Southeast Texas. In her free time, Julie enjoys attending Lamar sporting events and resides in Beaumont with her husband Jeff and their children, Austin and Mary Margaret. Julie is passionate about fostering inclusive education environments and advocating for individuals with autism and other special needs. Her extensive experience and dedication to community engagement have made her a valued member of the Shorkey team. She is excited to bring her expertise and enthusiasm to her new role, where she hopes to continue making a positive impact on the lives of those she serves. Julie’s commitment to building strong, supportive communities is evident in her work, and she looks forward to collaborating with colleagues and families to create meaningful opportunities for growth and development.
