New Executive Director
Dr. Robin Pearson

Dr. Pearson comes to the Shorkey Center with a myriad of experiences. She brings leadership and programming through management of multi-facility gymnastics program in Austin which provided preschool and afterschool learning opportunities in addition to gymnastics. She is a Special Education teach with over 10 years of experience working in El Paso, Lubbock and California. Most recently, she was the Intake Director at a pediatric therapy clinic in California working with an interdisciplinary team of therapists.
Robin completed her Doctorate from Creighton University. Her dissertation project investigated understanding and facilitation of social emotional development at a diverse socio-economic status preschool. She is a 2020 Fellow Graduate in Leadership Education in Neurodevelopment and Related Disabilities Interdisciplinary Training Program from University of Southern California, LA Children’s Hospital. Collaborative interdisciplinary training focused on improving the health of children through the Association of University Centers on Disabilities. Robin has been married to Kevin Person for 24 years and they arrived in South East Texas when Kevin accepted the job as the CEO of the YMCA of South East Texas. They love bike riding, kayaking, serving their community and time with family. Together they have two amazing children. Scarlett graduated from HS in 3 years and from Texas Tech University in 2018 in just 3 years the week of her 20th birthday. Their son, Indigo, spent his junior year of HS in Grinon, Spain and is a sophomore at Trinity University in San Antonio.
